DIY: flower wall decor

Inspired by a post on pinterest, I made this beautiful flower wall decor out of simply toilet paper rolls!
Like what you see? Keep reading for a step-by-step tutorial:

(I apologize some of the images are harder to see because they blend in so well with my carpet)

Gather materials: toilet paper rolls (as many as desired to make a design), scissors, glue gun and a working surface (I used a grocery bag to prevent the glue from getting on anything undesirable!)

Cut rolls into slits. All cuts should be around the same size, but it's okay if they're off a little bit

Put a dab of glue on the inside of one cut piece of roll

Press another roll to the clue to start to form a flower figure

Make leaves to the flower by cutting the roll to form a flat cardboard piece, and glue two together

Here's what my flowers looked like at this stage. Add some leaves in different places to vary the design

I suggest laying out a design first, and then gluing so you can get an idea of what you're working with and what you want it to look like

After the final gluing I painted my piece in gradient pastel hues. It was very tricky painting it different colors after being glued, so consider doing this before gluing, after you make your layout.

My final piece is finally placed on my apartment wall with a few nails to hold up the flower extensions in different areas

Have fun, good luck and I would love to see pictures of completed pieces!
