Spotlight: Wanelo

First, I would like to apologize for my lack of posts lately... I have been disconnected from the world this past month since I lost wifi access at my apartment, so can only browse the internet through my phone. While this has significantly affected my blogging skills, it has increased my awareness to new products and trends that are going on.

Second, I'm extremely late on finding this site, but now that I have it I can't leave it alone! Wanelo.com. It has been my savior through studying for finals these past few weeks. Anytime I need a break I whip out my iPhone and start saving new products and accessories I just have to get my hands on. It's amazing eye candy, but extremely hard on the wallet if I follow through with any of these purchases :x. Check out some of the products I've saved:
Psst, all links lead to where to buy the item at (not the Wanelo posting) since Wanelo provides these links

Fossil Modern Cargo Convertible Tote HandBag [buy here]

Cross-over Bandage Dress [buy here]

Crochet Crop Top [buy here]

I just started saving items, which the site lets you do, into different categories to help organize your wishlists. I don't have much saved yet, but you can follow my personal account here, otherwise just head to the site and start up an account yourself, and start saving!

spotlight: etsy

So, I realize I'm a little late to jump on the bandwagon, but I downloaded the etsy app on my iPhone before really getting a chance to browse online and ohhhmygoodness! I'm obsessed!
It's kind of like a treasure hunt. You have to really search for those vintage inspired handmade pieces that melt your heart, but once you find them... it's extremely hard to stop.

keepin it organized

Here are some small tips for organizational purposes that may help trigger your spring cleaning bug

Remove one pan without having to remove them all!
Turn a vertical bakeware organizer on its end and secure it to the cabinet wall with cable clips

I'd love to have a bakers rack just like this in my apartment.
Create extra work space as well as convenient organization with this rack

A cute way to organize jewelry, teacups and saucers

DIY: flower wall decor

Inspired by a post on pinterest, I made this beautiful flower wall decor out of simply toilet paper rolls!
Like what you see? Keep reading for a step-by-step tutorial:

(I apologize some of the images are harder to see because they blend in so well with my carpet)

Gather materials: toilet paper rolls (as many as desired to make a design), scissors, glue gun and a working surface (I used a grocery bag to prevent the glue from getting on anything undesirable!)

Cut rolls into slits. All cuts should be around the same size, but it's okay if they're off a little bit

Put a dab of glue on the inside of one cut piece of roll

Press another roll to the clue to start to form a flower figure

Make leaves to the flower by cutting the roll to form a flat cardboard piece, and glue two together

Here's what my flowers looked like at this stage. Add some leaves in different places to vary the design

I suggest laying out a design first, and then gluing so you can get an idea of what you're working with and what you want it to look like

After the final gluing I painted my piece in gradient pastel hues. It was very tricky painting it different colors after being glued, so consider doing this before gluing, after you make your layout.

My final piece is finally placed on my apartment wall with a few nails to hold up the flower extensions in different areas

Have fun, good luck and I would love to see pictures of completed pieces!

Happy Easter for those of you who celebrate, and if not happy Sunday! Hope the week was joyous.

Enjoy a picture of my pup, Isabelle. She's looking as joyous as ever herself while helping me water trees.

curious? me too

Small shop's shop talk blog confirmed my affirmations of believing the only two colored jeans that I would be able to pull off are red or mint. I've been so torn about this trend. On one hand I love it, on the other I know that not everyone can pull it off. How do you wear your colored jeans?
